Alessandro Piergallini is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Department of Private Law, Faculty of Law, University of Rome "Tor Vergata". He teaches Economics at the Department of Private Law, Macroeconomics and Macroeconomic Theory and Policy at the Department of Economics and Finance, Faculty of Economics, and Macroeconomics at the Center for Economic and International Studies (CEIS), University of Rome "Tor Vergata".

His research is mainly concerned with monetary and fiscal policies. He has published articles in Macroeconomic Dynamics, the Journal of Evolutionary EconomicsEconomic Inquiry, the Journal of Population EconomicsEconomics Letters, Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics, the International Journal of Economic Theory, the Berkeley Journal of MacroeconomicsApplied Economics.

He is Member of the Academic Board of the Ph.D in Economics, Law and Institutions, the M.Sc. in Development Economics and International Cooperation and the M.Sc. in European Economy and Business Law at "Tor Vergata" University, and Member of the Euro Area Business Cycle Network, the Italian Economic Association and the Scottish Economic Society.

He holds a magna cum laude degree in Political Sciences at the "Sapienza" University of Rome, an M.Sc. in Economics with distinction and a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata".

He has been Visiting Ph.D. student at the Pompeu Fabra University and at the University of London, School of Oriental and African Studies. He has been Research Fellow in Financial Studies at the Centre for Financial and Management Studies of the University of London. He has advised the Fiscal Policy Division of the European Central Bank.
