RAVELLO

At the end of the Conference we plan to make a "field trip"
down to Ravello, the village of the Amalfi Coast (South of Naples), where, starting next
year, well have the annual Conference and the Summer School on the Economics
of Biotechnology.
Ravello is a village perched on a 350 feet high cliff overlooking the blue sea of the
Amalfi Coast. It has conserved its historical monuments through the ages in a natural
setting which has few equals in the world. The most important monuments are the Cathedral,
founded in 1086, Villa Rufolo, i.e. the garden where Richard Wagner found its magical
garden of Klingsor for the second act of Parsifal, Villa Cimbrone, which is the other
garden of Ravello, famous for its breathtaking belvedere and several other monuments and
villas. Ravello is also located near Positano and Amalfi, two of the most well-known
Italian summer resorts.
The trip will start on Saturday afternoon, June 19, and we plan to come back to Rome
Monday night, the 21st. On the way back to Rome we will stop to visit the ruins
of old Pompei.
We will leave from the campus by bus and the journey should take approximately 3 hours.
If you are interested you should notify us at the time you register to the Conference. We
will not be able to assure participation to the field trip to people who will register
late.
